“The Living Legend” Bruno Sammartino, the greatest professional wrestler Pittsburgh has ever produced, has confirmed that he will be at KSWA FanFest 2012, set for Saturday, December 8.
Keystone State Wrestling Alliance Owner Bobby O made this stunning announcement during the first half action of “When Worlds Collide” at the KSWA Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Bobby O also announced that 2012 Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame inductee Domenic DeNucci will accompany his long-time friend to FanFest.
The two legends will sign autographs and meet with Krazies at the biggest wrestling event in the entire state.
Sammartino, the two-time World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) Champion held that title for a combined 11 years. In some pockets of the Northeast, Sammartino remains the most popular athlete to reside in Pittsburgh, regardless of the sport.
DeNucci, the multi-time champion, continues to don the tights in matches to this very day, and was inducted into the KSWA Hall of Fame in 2010. In addition to being one of the most talented tag team wrestlers of all time, DeNucci is universally regarded as one of the nicest guys in the business.
Earlier this year, Sammartino announced that he had retired from making appearances outside of Western Pennsylvania. This is his first Pittsburgh wrestling appearance in many years.
Regionally, Sammartino has appeared in autograph sessions around the city for years. Thanks to the KSWA, Sammartino and DeNucci will sign autographs free of charge to FanFest attendees.
The partnership between the KSWA and Sammartino has been in the works for months, according to Bobby O. Members of the KSWA were the only Pittsburgh wrestlers on hand for DeNucci’s induction into the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame earlier this year, an event in which Sammartino received his ring from the Hall’s first induction class 11 years ago. In addition, KSWA Tag Team Champion Lord Zoltan emceed this year’s festivities.
Last year’s FanFest included George “The Animal” Steele’s long-awaited return to Pittsburgh. The sold-out event was the largest independent professional wrestling crowd in the history of Pittsburgh. Long lines were turned away at the door.
More announcements regarding this year’s FanFest, which also serves as a Toy Drive for needy children in Allegheny County, will be forthcoming. Another spectacular, one-of-a-kind Chinese Auction is also scheduled.
KSWA FanFest, featuring Bruno Sammartino and Dominic DeNucci, is set for Saturday, December 8, at the Home of Professional Wrestling in Pittsburgh, the KSWA Arena. Bell time is 7:30 p.m. All tickets for this special event are just $5. Tickets are currently available.
