January 11, 2013 by Trapper Tom, Ring Announcer/Wrestling Journalist In addition to the Main Event Battle Bowl V, many of the Megastars of the Keystone State Wrestling Alliance are already positioning themselves for March’s Joe Abby Memorial Tournament. The tag team qualifying matches will include the VIPs—“The Enforcer” Shawn Blanchard and KSWA World Champion “Dr. Devastation” Lou Martin—will face Ric Rumsky and Mitch Napier. The winners of that match will move onto the one-day tournament to crown the KSWA’s new Number One contenders for the tag team championship. In another qualifying match, members of the Legion of the Apocalypse—Ali Kaida and Bobby Badfingers—will take on “Ice Man” Tony Johnson and Jay Flash. This match showcases diverse differences in the styles of Megastars. Kaida and Badfingers are brutal brawlers, while Johnson and Flash are high-flyers with a much quicker style. The experience advantage undeniably goes towards Kaida and Badfingers; however, none of these wrestlers are unfamiliar with each other. The new KSWA Tag Team Champions—“The King” Del Douglas and The Jester are still celebrating their FanFest win, what with Douglas ordering Millvale to have weekly parades, even in the dead of winter. With Lord Zoltan missing-in-action, Justin Sane will take on The Jester alone. The King and Jester are already championing the permanent demise of Party Gras. The new 5-Star Champion, Kris Kash, is coming off of an impressive Gauntlet Match win at FanFest. His first title defense is against the formidable J-Ru. The new champion has promised to defend the budding 5-Star Championship against all comers and few are as prepared as J-Ru. The Charleroi native Instigated his way into a verbal confrontation with The Latin Assassin at FanFest, then felt the fists and boots of the former KSWA Champion. Now rested and ready, J-Ru is looking for gold of his own. The Golden Triangle Championship is on the line as Shane Starr defends against Jonny Axx. These two Megastars are not unfamiliar with one another and are both at the top of their respective games. This title defense will be a challenge for Starr, who lost what was then the Jr. Heavyweight Championship to Axx by dubious means. All of the matches lead up to Battle Bowl V, the battle royal that will set up the Number One Contenders for the KSWA World Title, Golden Triangle and 5-Starr Championships. The winners will have the rest of the calendar year to “cash in” their opportunities. It’s an “every man for himself” extravaganza. The KSWA’s “New Year’s Knockout/Battle Bowl V” is this Saturday night, January 12 at the Home of Professional Wrestling in Pittsburgh, the KSWA Arena. Bell time is 7:30 p.m.; tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for kids. Card is subject to change. |
