Coming off the heels of a record-breaking Sharpsburg VFD fundraiser, the Keystone State Wrestling Alliance (KSWA) climbs the mountain from Lawrenceville to its original home—Bloomfield—for another night of professional wrestling action.
On May 20, 2000 the KSWA’s second-ever event was held at the now-shuddered VFW. The group hasn’t been back in more than a year, but that all changes this weekend when the KSWA returns to St. Maria Goretti School (formerly Immaculate Conception School) on Edmund Street.
The Owner of the KSWA, “The Enforcer” Shawn Blanchard and the KSWA Heavyweight Champion, “Dr. Devastation” Lou Martin are ready to regroup—stronger than ever—as FanFest grows on the horizon. At last week’s Sharpsburg VFD fundraiser, Blanchard was bested by Kris Kash in the finals of the Mario Ferraro Sr. Memorial Tournament. However, before that, Martin and fellow VIP stable-mate Tyler Cross defeated Shane Starr and “Mr. Puniverse” Bob Atlas in a “Pick Your Partner” tag team contest.
Blanchard is taking on the Golden Triangle Champion Shane Starr one-on-one in a Non-Title Matchup. Blanchard had previously announced that Starr would put his gold on the line against Martin’s strap at FanFest. Blanchard hopes to embarrass, humiliate and possibly hurt Starr going into FanFest and this is his last attempt before the biggest event of the year.
In tag team action, the Mercenaries—“Nasty” Nick Crane and Sniper—get another shot at ridding the KSWA of its greatest tag team—Party Gras—Justin Sane and Lord Zoltan. When Lord Zoltan wasn’t making Lou Martin wear a chicken suit, the most important independent professional wrestler to ever come from the region has been battling Crane and/or Sniper. The last time the two teams met in a two-on-two match, the Mercenaries won via count-out. Zoltan just defeated Sniper last weekend, so the feud has continued all year.
Kaida continues to go after members of the VIPs. This time the KSWA Championship Committee has bypassed Blanchard and put Kaida up against Tyler Cross. Cross, one-half of the KSWA Tag Team Champions, has improved considerably in recent months; however, this may be a tall order. Kaida’s strength is far superior and his size is unlike anything Cross has dealt with in recent months. Despite that, Cross is a member of the VIPs and has been for a reason. He’s crafty and that will make this a very exciting contest.
“The (Self-Proclaimed) Baddest Man in the KSWA,” Bobby Badfingers will set his next sights on The Blood Beast. This is an interesting match as these two members of the former Legion of the Apocalypse are no stranger to one another and the Krazies aren’t fond of either Megastar. Badfingers, who lays claim to retiring a number of Megastars, including former Megastar Jonny Axx, may try to force Blood Beast to the shelf. Beast, who was less intense in recent months, is back to being the ruthless battler he’s best known for being. This hard-hitting match between two brutes will be titanic.
The Jester, who had a good but not good enough showing at the Mario Ferraro Sr. Tournament will take on the always scattershot Joey Quervo. It was announced last week that The Jester will be taking on Zach Gowen at FanFest. KSWA Kommissioner “Gentleman” Joe Perri broke the news in Sharpsburg and inquiries have been flooding in throughout corporate offices. This lead-up match will be a tune-up of sorts for The Jester, but Quervo can never be taken lightly.
And El Skeletorios returns the KSWA after being walloped by Badfingers at Autumn Annihilation. The 17-time former Mexican Champion is already preparing to dance his way through this matchup with “The King” Del Douglas. El Skeletorios, a cousin of KSWA legend La Lucha, caused a Twitter trending nightmare when he announced that he would return to Pennsylvania. Douglas, who is still smarting for not winning the Ferraro Tournament, is said to steaming, just thinking about this match.
Other Megastars, including KSWA Champion “Dr. Devastation” Lou Martin will be in action. The Road to FanFest stop at St. Maria Goretti in Bloomfield is this Saturday, November 23, 7:00 p.m. bell time. All tickets are $10 for this fundraiser. Call 412-726-1762 for tickets & event information. Card is subject to change.
