Top 10 KSWA Highlights of 2014: #5—The Chicken Suit

The saga started more than a year ago when Lord Zoltan defeated “Dr. Devastation” Lou Martin in a “Loser Wears A Chicken Suit” match at Millvale Days on September 13, 2013. The next day, Zoltan teamed with Party Gras partner Justin Sane to face long-time rivals “The Enforcer” Shawn Blanchard, and a game Martin. In full-regalia—including mask—Martin morphed into a wings-flapping, and even-at-times-clucking World Heavyweight Champion. The holder of the most prestigious Single's Title in the Commonwealth wrestled in a chicken suit. The massive crowd ate it up. For the second event in a row, Martin was on the losing end of a Millvale Days card.
Fast forward to this year. On June 28 at the Teamster Temple, the feathery gauntlet was cast again as Lord Zoltan and Lou Martin faced off in a Chicken Suit rematch. This time, however, the rotisserie stakes were higher. The loser of this match would be forced to wear the suit for the rest of 2014! Zoltan was victorious and Martin, again, forced by stipulation, to walk the plank.
Instead of refusing with legal jargon and vehement anger, Martin—albeit grudgingly—donned the yellow, full-body chicken suit. Even when it burst at the seams, he held true to his former VIP word, and wore the Chicken Suit.
KSWA Owner Bobby O continued to turn up the heat on Martin and made him pose with fans for pictures as a way to raise money for charity. At the St. Raphael’s School Fundraiser in Morningside on September 27, the line to pose with Martin wrapped around the ring. At another event, he posed with fans with designs on that money going to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). A sizeable donation was presented to MDA during its Christmas Party in early December.
Martin was successful in capturing the 2nd Annual Mario Ferraro Sr. Memorial Cup on November, in the now-filleted Chicken Suit. He bellowed loudly, wings-outstretched, with Cup-in-hand in a post-match ceremony. At FanFest on December 6, Martin and “King” Del Douglas—collectively known as the Double-D’s” were unsuccessful in capturing the KSWA Tag Team Championships from Jack Massacre and “Big” Mike Malachi, but the former two-time champion was relieved to retire his foul ring attire. For now.
The KSWA Championship Committee recognized Martin’s ability to parlay his situation into a positive and in fact weighed his pluck into consideration as the #1 Top KSWA Megastar of All Time.
This list will soon continue with Number Four…
