"Spear Asylum" Has Best Shot Yet At Regaining Tag Gold For Mayor Mystery

When "Vicious" Vinnie Stone reappeared after a lengthy absence from the Keystone State Wrestling Alliance (KSWA), the former tag team champion said that he was back "home."

Stone entered the KSWA back in 2008 as the "cousin" of Biker Al. Their first tag team match on February 23, 2008 ended in a no-contest with The Latin Assassin and Blood Beast. On March 29, 2008 in his first one-on-one match in Pittsburgh, Stone defeated The Latin Assassin. Stone was certainly someone to take seriously.

Stone had made a credible name for himself by brawling through West Virginia venues before catching the eye of the KSWA Championship Committee, and then-Kommissioner Biker Al.

Biker Al and Stone were on the losing end of a "Brawl For It All" match with La Lucha and Joey Quervo and Latin Assassin and Blood Beast tag team trifecta. Latin and the Beast won the tag team championships.

Over the next months, Stone would work in singles contests, but would always reconnect with his cousin for important tag team opportunities. Stone went on to feud with Alex Arcadian and Ric Rumsky. On September 13, 2008, Stone and Al defeated Arcadian and Rumsky to become new KSWA Tag Team Champions. In their only defense, they lost the belts to Latin and The Blood Beast (as well as Rumsky and Arcadian) at FanFest on December 6, 2008.

After a match on June 6, 2009 an angry Biker Al told everyone, including Stone, that they were not cousins and their pairing was all an elaborate ruse. Stone was befriended by Rumsky and Arcadian in that aftermath.

On September 12, 2009 Stone and Rumsky defeated Biker Al and Bobby Badfingers in the only match ever at the Bloomfield Liedertafel. On September 18, 2009 Stone and Rumsky defeated Lou Martin and Shane Starr to become KSWA Tag Team Champions at Millvale Days. Their title reign lasted less than 24 hours. Martin teamed with fellow VIP founder Shawn Blanchard and reclaimed their tag team gold at the second of two Millvale Days.

At FanFest, December 5, 2009 Rumsky and Stone once again became Tag Team Champions. The Gauntlet Match became necessary because Demolition vacated the belts after defeating Blanchard and Martin on October 10, 2009. Ax and Smash relinquished the belts after realizing they wouldn't be able to defend them in a timely manner.

Throughout the first half of 2010, the team of Rumsky and Stone had success defending the belts. They lost them to Kris Kash and Shane Starr on June 12, 2010. Not long after that, Stone brutally attacked Rumsky and sent him to the sidelines. In fact, for many months it was iffy to believe Rumsky would ever return to wrestling and the KSWA.

Stone went back to the "other locker room" and took on fan favorites. In early 2011, Ric Rumsky returned and before a ruckus KSWA crowd, kicked Stone in the chin with a superkick. Their feud was on!

On July 9, 2011 Rumsky defeated Stone in a Last Man Standing/Loser Leave KSWA match. At the conclusion of that heavy-hitting match, the two seemed to make up.

There have been 77 events, 4 years and six months, or 1,646 days in between KSWA appearances for the Vicious One. But he has arrived in better shape than when he left. Stone admits that he had swelled to the 300 pound mark at one time, but he is now about 60 pounds lighter and ready to mix it up with the Megastars.

Mayor Mystery scored the surprise return after learning of J-Ru's departure. The Charleroi native was never able to reach the KSWA's top prize with Bobby Badfingers. The Windy City Brawler immediately signed on to Stone's return, as they two have battled one another often in the past.

The new "Spear Asylum" springs ahead of Mayor Mystery's other duo, the Mercenaries, in the tag team ranks. Despite never receiving a rematch for KSWA tag team gold, Sniper and "Nasty" Nick Crane remain top tag team foils. Crane recently crimped his back, so Badfingers and Stone will receive the next chance to score KSWA tag team gold. Those belts are currently held by KSWA World Champion Kris Kash and tag team partner Shane Starr.

That happens next Saturday, April 30 at the Teamster Temple, 4701 Butler Street, the Lawrenceville neighborhood within the city of Pittsburgh. Bell time is 7:30.
