VIPs Blanchard & Martin Promise Retribution Against Ax & Smash Demolition In Epic Battle Of Former KSWA Tag Team Champions

When Shawn Blanchard and Lou Martin lost the Keystone State Wrestling Alliance (KSWA) tag team championships to Demolition on October, 10, 2009, the capacity crowd gave Ax and Smash a standing ovation. It isn’t every day that the historic tag team enters Pittsburgh, dispatches an overbearing team, and then stomps off into the Lawrenceville night.
For 2,612 days, the VIPs have been steaming over that incredible loss. Now they are promising retribution.
Ax and Smash, who had to relinquish those tag championships because of scheduling conflicts, have agreed to come back for a rematch. Blanchard and Martin have held the tag team titles since that loss, and each man has reclaimed the KSWA World Title in those 7 years, one month and 24 days, but they believe that they are more than ready for this new challenge.
Shawn Blanchard won the KSWA World Title with James J. Dillon and KDKA TV at ringside. Lou Martin became “The Face of Pittsburgh” and was featured in the Wall Street Journal. Earlier this year, Blanchard and Martin were named cover boys and “Sportsmen of the Year” for Sports Pittsburgh Magazine, besting Andrew McCutcheon, Sydney Crosby and Ben Roethlisberger. The VIPs have not fared badly in that time. In fact, they have managed quite well.
Since that time, Demolition Ax (KSWA Hall of Fame, Class of 2009), has been inducted into the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum (then in Amsterdam, New York) and was honored by his hometown Fayette County Commissioners for his career. At the PWHF induction dinner, Demolition was pictured holding the KSWA title belts. Ax has teamed up Smash for a series of independent matches all over the country, but they both love to come back to Pittsburgh.
In 2010, an article in Bleacher Report proclaimed them the most devastating tag team in WWF history and of this writing still hold the record for the longest reign in that promotion’s history.
The KSWA has not heard much from Demolition in regards to this contest, but the VIPs are promising “retribution” and to kick Demolition’s teeth down their collective throats at FanFest.
That match is set for this Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the Teamster Temple, 4701 Butler Street, Pittsburgh, PA. Bell time is 7:30 and more information is available at kswa.net.
