One week after helping celebrating the 150th anniversary of Verona Borough, the Keystone State Wrestling Alliance (KSWA) once again travels north of the city of Pittsburgh for a Volunteer Fire Department fundraiser. “Battle in Birdville” is this Saturday, August 28 at the Citizens Hose Ambulance Service in Natrona Heights.

The KSWA Heavyweight Championship is on the line as Double-A Anthony Alexander is challenged once again by Officer Dan Murphy. Alexander defeated the lawman a few weeks ago at the Boy Scouts fundraiser in Camp Guyasuta; however, the KSWA Championship Committee like the cut of the big man’s jib. Murphy, a giant of a man, is even larger than the Megastar is possession of the Commonwealth’s most coveted prize. The two behemoths had a hard-hitting and physical confrontation that saw the two-time champion is peril at times. This will assuredly be an important match for both men.

The KSWA’s Golden Triangle Championship will be defended by Shane Starr when he takes on a game competitor in Harley T. Morris. Most recently, Morris has been defeated by KSWA Champion Alexander, as well as tag team champion Yinza, the Pittsburgh Luchadore. “The Professional” has slide a bit in the winner’s bracket since losing the KSWA’s 5-Star Championship but he remains in the good graces of KSWA Owner Bobby O and the KSWA Championship Committee. Might he rebound at the right time and upset the popular Golden Triangle Champion? Meanwhile, Starr has been on quite a roll this year. He has defeated top-notch challengers in “King” Del Douglas and Remy LeVay just last weekend. He’s also participated on the winning side of six-man matches in Camp Guyasuta and Verona. He and Alexander both appear to be neck-and-neck for “Megastar of the Year” as the schedule turns toward the fall.

The KSWA Five-Star Championship, which definitely has a new vibe with the venerable J-Ru in possession of the trophy inside a Haliburton briefcase, is scheduled to defend against still-newcomer “The Ram” Anthony Drake. J-Ru, who has been wrestling locally and with the KSWA for more than 20 years, might be the best he has ever been with the 5-Star Championship. Fit, ready for action, and one of the best at manipulating a crowd, J-Ru has brought a special energy with his new trophy. While he has been introduced to the ring with questionable ring music, J-Ru has not let that distraction bother him for long. He has successfully defended the 5-Star belt against “Mr. Thriller” Johnny Mercury, his bouts with “The Regent” Joshua Kavod, which includes a controversial ending at JB’s Roadside Bar and Grille, have been among any card’s best. Here he is set to take on Drake, a hearty competitor who wants to move up the fluid KSWA roster. Might this early opportunity at KSWA gold set him on a pass for more success? “The Ram” is ready to find out.

It will be “Face of Pittsburgh” Lou Martin taking on “The King” Del Douglas in another chapter of their long-time feud. “The OG of the VIPs” Shawn Blanchard has done a fantastic job in keeping this rivalry alive, as it is the longest-running and most-intense of 2021. Both men know each other very well and are looking forward to hashing out their hate and differences in the ring. Douglas recently took Golden Triangle Champion Shane Starr and KSWA Heavyweight Champion Anthony Alexander in directions they didn’t find pleasing, while Martin has battled the likes of “The Megapixel Monster” BROhemoth. This showdown between two of the KSWA’s all-time biggest Megastars will be another concentrated effort.

Super Hentai returns to the KSWA after a shocking betrayal of “Rev” Ron Hunt at Brawl Under the Bridge. Instead of continuing to tag with the Megastar, Hentai chose to rejoin his long-time “Sons of Liberty” tag team partner Dennis Gregory. Here, Hentai is set to wrestle “The Regent” Joshua Kavod. Few have impressed the KSWA Championship Committee like Kavod. Immediately thrust in the 5-Star Championship hunt with J-Ru, Kavod has proven to be a tough competitor and high-flying expert. Not many KSWA Megastars have been as graceful flying above the ropes like Kavod. Now he takes on another veteran known for his acrobatic abilities in Super Hentai. Krazies old and new alike should bring their lawn chairs early for this one.

The other “Son of Liberty” Dennis Gregory, who is one of the most physically-demanding wrestlers in recent Pittsburgh vintage, will wrestle “Mr. Thriller” Johnny Mercury. Gregory has battled Anthony Alexander for the richest prize in the Keystone State and remains a top challenger, while Mercury has been given the opportunity to wrestle the #1 contender in Beastman and the 5-Star Champion J-Ru just last weekend. Mercury has taken the best of the opportunities given him by the Championship Committee, and he hopes to be successful against one of Mayor Mystery’s top stable mates.

The Good Guys and “Big Country” Matt McGraw are also set for action this Saturday.

KSWA “Battle in Birdville” begins with doors opening at 4:00 p.m. and bell time is 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, and $10 for kids 12 and under. The Citizens Hose Ambulance Service is located at 965 Burtner Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065. For more information, call 412-726-1762.
